A FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOL BY JOVER, LONDON, CIRCA 1775 with lightly swamped signed polygonal sighted barrel, stamped with maker's mark at the breech and engraved with a beadwork band (pitted, signature obscured), engraved breech tang incorporating a moulded back-sight, signed stepped lock (the cock an expert replacement), figured walnut full stock carved with a scalloped moulding about the tang (the fore-end cracked, the butt with a minor repair), engraved steel mounts including trigger-guard with acorn finial, and horn-tipped wooden ramrod, perhaps the original 38.8cm; 15 1/4in
